The Museum Store @ TMA Presents: Rameen Ahmed Designs
May 12-13, 2018, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, Mooney Hall
Join us for a 2-day exploration and sale of local artist Rameen Ahmed’s finely crafted body adornment. Ahmed’s wearable art is informed by her memories of tribal and modern designs of the Indian sub-continent and her formal studies in the field of architecture. Coming full circle, she sees her work as an amalgam of tribal and modern crossing international boundaries. With an expansive background in architectural design, she applies her knowledge to jewelry as miniature spatial constructions and intimate expressions of both herself and the wearer. Ahmed creates “a contemporary wearable art that breaks away from static notions of adornment while evoking the essence of tribal design through simple forms.” The results are critically composed artworks, with a hint of whimsy.
